This was created based on a reddit suggestion - but neatly fits with my real job as a cartographer.

It's quite simple, with a number of different map projections (styles) to choose from. Maps are cropped and squashed a bit to fit the PT screen. Date number and the seconds hand are optional.

The original idea for this simple watchface came from another project i'm working on - creating a world map (in three parts, each about 2m high x 1.5m wide). So this is obviously a much much smaller and less detailed version.

The larger map uses free data from http://www.naturalearthdata.com/ and will be ideal as a wall map/mural. More info is at, http://www.themapman.com/mapportfolio.html

The main feature of this watchface is that the map style changes at 6am/6pm from a day map to a night map, with your current timezone displayed above. Weather is via Yahoo and can be big or small. When BT is disconnected the weather graphics disappear and there is a small x.

The watchface has been developed to run on all pebble watches. As the watch displays timezone info, default text is displayed on classic pebbles, which do not know about timezones.

Ps: At this stage i don't plan adding day/night shadows (or similar) as there are a few other watchfaces that do this, and here i'd like to keep the whole map unobscured.

Here the code to calculate day/night on the map was entirely written by David Gianforte, then modified and shared by 'Ben’, then by me. I've modified the design and layout, and added a few different styles of map.

I first published a version of this 18 months ago, which was a bit restricted in its usefulness.

This update now means the the secondary timezones (NY, UTC, Tokyo) will work where ever you are.  I’ve also added 7 different map styles, for colour and B&W pebbles. As such it will now work for all pebble watches running firmware 3+

IMPORTANT: When you select a new map style via settings and save, the watch face WILL NOT update on its own. You will need to push the MENU button, followed by the BACK button to redraw the map.  I tried a number of ways to get the screen to redraw on its own, but wasn’t successful.

When BT is disconnected, the thin black lines (above and below the time/date) disappear.  The (-) and (+) next to the timezone names is simply to help indicate that the timezone is behind or ahead of UTC.

This update is better (than before), but not perfect.  At the moment the additional timezones are not easily configurable.  However, if you are comfortable using cloudpebble, the source is on GITHUB, so you can import the code and easily change the cities/timezones to whatever you want.  I’ve put comments in the code of what to edit, but a more detailed description can be found HERE.

The idea with this watchface is to demonstrate the benefit and advantage of an open-source environment.  If you think you can make the timezones more configurable, go for it :)  feel free to fork the code and make the required changes.  I had a go,  but found that it was easier said than done… then again, I’m not a full-time, expert coder.

An improvement on my first effort, which never quite worked properly. This is heavily based on the example by Pebble Technology and includes timezone abbv. and name.

It will show seconds with a shake of the watch - it stays for 20sec, before switching back. And you can switch local time to display for 12/24hr modes.

A simple watchface with a thinner font displaying both am/pm and 24hr time simultaneously, with seconds. You can also make the time background black or white.

Battery status and BT across the middle, times displayed swap for 12/24 hr modes. Battery status is also shown by the thin line dividing the time formats. If you swap time formats on your watch they also change position here.
